Lanoline - anhydrous (Adeps lanae) - top quality

Lanoline is a yellow waxy substance secreted by the sebaceous glands of sheep, which has a beneficial effect on sheep's wool that is exposed to various external factors. It has a similar effect on the skin. It is obtained by pressing sheared sheep's wool and then refining the lanolin.

Human skin, with the help of sebaceous glands, ensures that it is sufficiently lubricated - the sebaceous glands secrete sebum. However, as we age, less and less sebum is formed in the skin and is often removed by aggressive soaps. The best skin care is provided by oils or ointments that have a similar structure to human sebum. This can be said of lanolin and for this reason it is very suitable for the preparation of any cosmetic products for skin care.

In natural or home cosmetics it is used as an emollient and emulsifier. It is valued because it forms a semi-permeable film on the skin, which protects the skin from drying out. It is polar in nature, which means that it is soluble in oils or mixes well with them, and also binds water or forms an emulsion with it (it binds up to 2 times the amount of water due to its weight).

It is also used alone - for breast care during breastfeeding, and for the prevention of stretch marks or signs of pregnancy.

How can Lanolin be used in natural cosmetics?

• most commonly used as an ingredient in creams, ointments, lipsticks, lip balms and hair masks,
• for nipple balms, baby buttocks, dry feet,
• for creams(emulsions with water in oil) up to 60% of the weight of the finished product is used,
• for ointments and balms or other emulsions, water in oil up to 15%, for soaps up to 3% of the finished product,
• use in natural and organic cosmetics is allowed.
• How to prepare the cream according to the classic method: Heat the oil and water components to 75°C and then combine and cool. Stop stirring when the mixture has cooled down.
• Properties: melting point 38 - 44°C, anhydrous.
